WORKING VIRTUALLY WORKS FOR SMALL BUSINESS
Local Woman Launches Virtual Assistant Practice

The reasons are as different as the people who decide to become small business owners. Some cite the downsizing or disappearance of corporate America, the desire to spend more time with the kids, or the need to be in control of their own destiny. Whatever the reason, the Internet is an integral component in the lives of many small business owners. According to a recent Small Business Administration report, 85% of small firms are expected to be conducting business over the Internet by the end of this year.

Virtual Assistance is one of those businesses. Virtual Assistance is a new take on the traditional profession of Administrative Assistance. Stacy Brice, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Assist University, a virtual training, coaching and referral organization for Virtual Assistants (VA’s), predicts that in a few short years people will go from asking “what is a VA to who is your VA.”

There has been a shift in the way America thinks and operates. Recent events have caused Americans to reorganize their priorities and to exercise more control over their finances. This shift is reflected in the emergence of new small business startups.

Small business owners, however, soon realize to successfully operate a business, they cannot do everything. They also realize that the cost of hiring an employee can be prohibitive. For those working out of their homes providing space and equipment is yet another concern.

Virtual Assistants, small business owners themselves, partner with other small business owners to provide administrative as well as personal support from a distance. The new twist on an established profession is that the VA and client, respectively, can be across town or across the world. With communication taking place via email, phone, fax, and a host of other collaboration tools, this arrangement is already working well for many small business owners and VA’s.

ACCOUNTANTS DON'T DIE; THEY JUST LOSE THEIR BALANCE!

By Anonymous

Bookkeeping can be the difference between bankruptcy and success in small business. Bookkeepers' Boot Camp: Get a Grip on Accounting Basics by Angie Mohr and published by Self-Counsel Press is an easy to understand guide that shows small business owners the essentials of recordkeeping for a small business and why it's critical to track financial information.

A recent TD Economics Report says businesses with fewer than 100 employees- about 95 per cent of all North American companies- account for about one-third of the 'real' economy as measured by gross domestic product (excluding public administration). The small business sector also accounts for about 40 per cent of all working North Americans.

This report also predicts that the small business sector is expected to lead the surge for an improving economy over the next 12 to 18 months.

Yet many small business owners ignore the importance of record keeping and put it off until 'later.' They end up literally buried under piles of papers, overwhelmed by the immensity of the task at hand.

Angie Mohr has and continues to help these business owners avoid procrastination and unnecessary stress. Bookkeepers' Boot Camp: Get a Grip on Accounting Basics aids the small business owner to efficiently plow through paperwork, record important financial inforamtion and use that information to grow their business for success! According to Mohr, "You can't know how your business is doing until you record it."

Bookkeepers' Boot Camp: Get a Grip on Accoounting Basics is the first book in the Self-Counsel Press Numbers 101 for Small Bsuiness Series, a new series of easy-to-understand guides for small business owners, covering such topics as bookkeeping, analyzing and tracking financial information, starting a business, growing a business, and exiting a business.
